Scatterlings
of Africa Conference Fund
Scatterlings of Africa in conjunction
with Cotlands has established a conference fund, an initiative by
Scatterlings of Africa.
Since the inception of Scatterlings we have
donated money towards this unique conference fund. The Fund is
specifically designed to reserve money so that staff can attend
national and international conferences thereby increasing skills and
updating their knowledge for and improving the quality of life for
the abused, abandoned and AIDS impacted children in their care.
In the past, Scatterlings has
endeavored to play an active role in supporting Cotlands. In
addition to monetary donations we have supplied educational books
and materials to the nursery school, provided blankets and bedding
for the home as well as hosted a Christmas party for the children.
However, our role is far from complete or adequate; it is our
sincere hope and aim to continue providing pivotal support in
whatever capacity to this outstanding charity.
In a country filled with a plethora of
challenges and an ever increasing lack of resources, Cotlands Baby
Sanctuary relies heavily upon donations to meet the needs of the
destitute and disease-stricken South Africans. Allison Gallo,
Manager of Corporate Accounts at Cotlands poignantly echoes these
sentiments;
“I have personally witnessed the
healing power of loving hands that keep the children comfortable,
free of pain and full of hope. Sadly, most of these children die
before they can reach the age of two, but not in vain because we
know that we have made a difference in their lives and provided a
place where the children who are terminally ill, can die with
dignity in a loving, friendly and familiar environment.
Trying to prevent society’s wounded,
ill and discarded children from falling through the net and being
lost to any help is a very daunting task and one that might tempt us
to become despondent, particularly after a long hard year. Yet when
people like you display generosity of this magnitude, we are greatly
encouraged and strengthened.”
